Before the implementation of the playgrounds, there was no public space for leisure and entertainment. As a result, children were exposed to the risk of being run over by cars, since they had to play in the middle of an unpaved street, while their parents also had no shared space for community interaction.
This project would not have been possible without the partnership, support and trust of the following clubs: Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro, Rotary Club of Copacabana, Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro Grajaú, Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro Guanabara Galeão, Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro Jacarepaguá, Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro Lagoa, Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro Maracanã, Rotary Club of Nova Iguaçu, Rotary Club of Petrópolis, Rotary Club of Petrópolis Cidade Imperial, Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro Rio Comprido, Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro Rocha Miranda, Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro Sernambetiba and Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro São Cristóvão.
Together with resources from the District Designated Fund, these partnerships made it possible to equip the Canal do Anil community, with approximately 17,000 residents, represented by Associação de Moradores do Canal do Anil, located on Canal do Anil Avenue, Melo Street, number 5, Jacarepaguá, with two public squares featuring playground equipment made of treated eucalyptus wood, as well as concrete tables and benches.
